Research, Advocacy, and Experimenting with Chris Schaffer

028 Chris SchafferHang on to your hats!  Today’s podcast with Chris Schaffer is jam packed!  Chris is an Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in the Biomedical Engineering Department at Cornell University.  We’ll talk about his views on how we teach science and what needs to be done so students can experiment and discover more as opposed to just learning a bunch of facts. We’ll also dive deep into his research on developing optic based tools to study diseases like Alzheimer’s disease and discuss the time he spent in Washington D.C. working as a science policy fellow for Senator Edward Markey.  Chris will explain how scientists need to learn to become better advocates for themselves and science as a whole.
